Meet Dr Christy PhD

I'm Dr Christy Fergusson Ph.D. I am a Doctor of Psychology, Chartered Psychologist, Nutritional Therapist, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Hay House Author. I have a Ph.D., MSc and BA Hons in Psychology; I'm a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, a Nutritional Therapist with the British Association of Nutrition & Nutritional Therapy and a Clinical Hypnotherapist with the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

Through a combined integration of my expertise in nutrition, psychology and hypnotherapy I launched my company The Food Psychologist and quickly become the ‘go to’ food psychology expert in the UK. I'm the food psychologist from Channels 4′s Secret Eaters, a former Sun columnist and in-house nutritionist at Women’s Health Magazine. I published my first book 'Hot, Healthy, Happy' with Hay House in 2013.

Alongside running my company The Food Psychologist, I specialise in helping food brands create media hot campaigns with a food psychology slant. To date, I have worked on over 40 food brand advertising campaigns. I’ve been involved in over 20 radio days, presented online videos, hosted media events, conducted research, created bespoke quizzes, written articles and press releases. I know what it takes to make a food brand campaign successful.

I am a published author and freelancer writer whose work has been widely featured in the national press. I published my first book "Hot, Healthy, Happy" with Hay House in 2013. I then teamed up with Anna Richardson following our stint together on Channel 4's Secret Eaters and contributed to her latest book 'Mind Over Fatter" published by Headline in 2015.

I am the former in-house nutritionist for Women's Health Magazine. Along with writing and contributing to features, I wrote their 'Life On A Plate' column analysing celebrity diets for several years. I also worked for the Sun newspaper as a Sun columnist and continue to write articles and provide expert opinion on a freelance basis. My work has been featured widely in national publications such as The Sunday Times, The Express, The Sun, The Daily Record, FHM, Women’s Health, Top Sante, Women’s Fitness, Now, No.1, Spirit & Destiny, ELLE, NOW and Grazia to name a few.

I now have a number of press contacts which I am happy to pitch to as part of the campaigns I am involved with. I am frequently commissioned to write health and wellness features for the national press and promotional campaigns. My first on-screen work was with STV. For a year, I developed and presented my own fortnightly health and nutrition slots on 'The Hour'. These 10-minute segments gave nutrition and wellness tips in a fun friendly way. Play the video to watch one of these.

I'm best known for my appearances as the food psychologist on Channel 4s hit show Secret Eaters. For this hidden camera show, I developed psychological experiments to reveal that we often eat more than we realise. I have had various other expert appearances on TV shows including GMTV's 'Fatima's Fat Fight'  with Fatima Whitbread, Nigel Slaters BBC 4 'Life is Sweets', BBC 1 'Scotlands The Fat' and Sky News.

As a result of my media experience, food brands frequently hire me to present online videos for their campaigns and represent them on broadcast interviews. To watch more of my onscreen work, click the button below.

As part of my food branding consultancy, I have been involved in over 20 radio campaigns. When you consider that most radio days involve on average 20 back to back interviews,  to date I will have completed around 400 radio campaign interviews. In addition to this work, I am also a regular on a number of radio shows such as the Kay McAdams Show.

Through a combined integration of her expertise in nutrition, psychology and hypnotherapy she created her company The Food Psychologist. Christy has quickly become the ‘go-to’ person in the UK media for empowering individuals to transform their mind and body. She published her first book 'Hot, Healthy, Happy' with Hay House in 2013.

Christy began her career as an academic conducting large-scale research on chronic illness. Nowadays she runs a successful company offering expert psychological and nutritional advice to individuals and companies all over the world.

If we decide to go ahead, we can schedule a free Campaign Planning Session.
